Hello everyone!
Today, I’m excited to share an incredible platform where you can promote your digital art for FREE—Pinterest! If you haven’t explored it yet, you’re in for a treat. Pinterest is a visual discovery engine that allows users to find and share ideas in the form of themed boards, pins, and groups. It’s a fantastic space to showcase your creativity and connect with fellow art enthusiasts.
So, what are boards, pins, and groups?
- Boards are collections where you can organize your pins by theme or project. Think of them as mood boards for your artistic ideas!
- Pins are the actual images or links that you save, featuring your artwork or inspirations. Each pin can link back to your website, portfolio, or online store, driving traffic to your work.
- Groups allow you to collaborate with other artists and share ideas. You can invite like-minded creators to contribute pins and expand your reach.
People save a variety of content on Pinterest, from tutorials and inspiration to finished artwork. The platform is known for its DIY spirit, which is why beautiful, high-quality images tend to attract more attention. Users save pins to their boards to remember ideas they want to try or replicate, making it a perfect platform for artists!
Getting started is a breeze! You can register on Pinterest via your browser or download the app. Simply sign up with your email, phone number, or even log in through your Facebook or Google account. It’s as easy as uploading an image. Just click the three dots on the top corner of a photo and select “upload image.” In no time, you’ll be searching for inspiring ideas and sharing your own creations on this vibrant platform—don’t forget to add relevant hashtags!

If you want to take your presence on Pinterest further, consider creating a Pinterest Business Account. This gives you access to valuable tools such as analytics and advertising options, allowing you to promote your products more effectively. Tools like “Rich Pins” allow you to showcase more information about your art alongside your pins!
Here’s How to Connect Your Store or Social Media to Pinterest:
1. Install the Pinterest browser extension: This handy tool lets you pin images directly from your favorite websites. You can find it easily through a Google search.
2. Enable the extension: Once installed, allow the extension to view and change data on the sites you visit. You can choose to enable it on all sites or just selected ones.
3. Pinning your content: When you’re on your website, look for the red Pinterest button that appears on your artwork. Click it to save directly to your Pinterest profile!
Additionally, you can create groups for collaborative pinning. Invite others who share your artistic interests to join and fill your groups with diverse and inspirational content. In my own groups, I showcase pins from various platforms like microstocks and online stores, all while promoting artwork from friends and fellow artists.

When customers click on a pin within a group, they can often be directed straight to your store, increasing your chances of sales or followers.
You can also explore Promoted Pins for advertising specific products or ideas on Pinterest. These paid options will help get your art in front of a larger audience, increasing your visibility.
Here Are Some Key Tips for Promoting Your Digital Art on Pinterest:
Be consistent: Regular uploads are key! The more you pin, the more visibility you'll gain. Aim to share new content frequently—daily if possible.
Focus on quality visuals: Ensure that your images are high-resolution and visually appealing. Incorporate bright colors, intriguing compositions, and clear branding to make your pins stand out. Remember, Pinterest is a visually-driven platform!
Optimize your pins: Use descriptive titles and detailed descriptions for each pin. Include relevant keywords that potential followers might use to search for art in your niche. Also, don’t forget those all-important hashtags—they can significantly boost your discoverability!
Engage with the community: Spend time commenting on and saving others' pins, especially those from similar niches. Engaging with fellow users can lead to reciprocal actions, helping to broaden your audience.
- Create eye-catching graphics: Consider using design tools like Canva to create striking vertical pins (2:3 aspect ratio works best). Adding text overlays can help convey the message of your pin in a concise way.
Show progress and behind-the-scenes content: Users love seeing the creative process! Share work-in-progress shots or behind-the-scenes clips to connect with your audience on a personal level.
Utilize Pinterest trends: Keep an eye on what's trending on Pinterest. Align your content with popular trends when it makes sense, as this can improve the chances of your pins being discovered.
Link your pins to quality content: Make sure that your pins link back to your website, blog, or online shop where users can find more of your work. Ensure that the content on your website is equally appealing and easy to navigate.
Experiment with different types of content: Don’t limit yourself solely to your artwork. Consider creating inspirational quotes, tutorials, and pinning articles related to your creative process. This can attract a broader audience while establishing you as an expert in your field.
Dive into analytics: If you have a business account, regularly check your Pinterest analytics to understand which pins are performing well. Use this data to refine your strategy and focus on creating more of what resonates with your audience.

By consistently applying these tips, you’ll not only increase traffic to your work but also engage with potential customers who may love your digital art as much as you do!
